RAPID is a type of massage that treats aches, pains and injury by focusing on the nervous system rather than muscle tissue and works by harnessing the central nervous systems role in alleviating tension and restrictions within the body. It is a lotion-free technique, so the client remains clothed through the session. This treatment is movement-based to encourage the client to perform active motion.
The purpose of RAPID is to reset nerve hypersensitivity back to neutral. The high sensation of the technique along with the client’s active movements allows the body to downgrade pain and reprogram sensory information processed by the brain. This then causes an immediate change in how the body responds to what it’s now feeling. It is for this reason that treatment lengths are shorter and the results last longer. Movement and return to activity are highly encouraged after a RAPID treatment to reinforce the changes created by the body.
RAPID doesn’t physically alter tissues, it is simply changing the information from the nerves, so it’s able to be used for many conditions and contributes greatly to faster healing.
Clients suffering from chronic and acute pain, as well as anyone experiencing limited mobility may benefit from RAPID treatments. The treatment goal of RAPID treatments is to resolve pain, improve range of motion, and reduce chronic inflammation.
